MIAA Privacy Policy v.2.0


Merz Pharmaceuticals GmbH (“Merz“, “we”, “us”), Eckenheimer Landstrasse 100, 60318 Frankfurt, Germany, operates the website www.merz-institute.com (the “Website”). We respect the privacy rights of our users and recognise the importance of protecting their personal data.
We have developed this Privacy Policy to provide you with information relating to the collection, processing and use of information you submit through the Website.

1 Visitors of the Website

When visiting the Website the following data is automatically transmitted by the Internet browser of each online visitor:
  • referral web page.
  • name of the requested file.
  • date and time of request/access.
  • size of the transmitted data.
  • status (e.g. transaction completed, etc.).
  • web browser used.
  • operating system used and
  • IP address of the device (together the “LogFile Data”).
The LogFile Data is collected and stored for security purposes, in particular to protect our IT systems against attacks. The IP address is deleted after seven days at the latest. The LogFile Data is also used to compile anonymous statistics.

2 Registered Users

Parts of the Website are reserved for healthcare professionals (“Registered Users”) only and require a prior registration.

2.1 Summary

If you register on our Website and tick the checkbox ”I agree to the collection, processing and use of my personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy” you in particular agree that
  • we will collect and store information about your purchase activities and about the way you use or navigate through the sites and about the way you use the services and courses (in order to do so we may also place cookies and web beacons). We will link this information to information you provide when registering (such as your name, email address and your profession);
  • we will use the collected information to analyse your usage and preferences for demographical and statistical analysis and for marketing and market research purposes as outlined below in paragraph 7, so that we can improve and customize its sites, products, services and promotions (including newsletters, provided you consented to receive newsletters) to better satisfy your needs; and
  • we may share your personal information with our affiliates and subsidiaries.

2.2 Which data we collect from our Registered Users

(a) Data about your identity

To register on the Website you are required to enter personal data into the registration form (the "Registration Data"). The Registration Data includes your title, first name and surname, date of birth, profession, discipline, practice address, professional registration number, email address, and name of the institute you work for.
If you purchase items from us through the Website, you need to provide required credit card or Pay Pal information for the transaction.

(b) Data related to your use of the Website and our services

You agree that we collect and store information about your purchase and account activities and about the way you use or navigate through the Website (including LogFile Data) and about the way you use the services and courses. In order to do so we may also use cookies and web beacons. We will link this information to your Registration Data.

2.3 How we process and use the data collected from our Registered Users

Your information will be used to provide you with the requested services and courses and to process your orders and requests and to enable the transactions you make through the Website.
You agree that we can use the Registration Data and data related to your use of the Website and our services to analyse your usage and preferences for demographical and statistical analysis and for marketing and market research purposes, as is authorised under paragraph 7 below, so that we can improve and customize our sites, products, services and promotions to better satisfy your needs.
In addition, if you opt into receiving e-mail newsletters from us, you agree that we may use the collected information to customize the newsletters to satisfy your requirements.

2.4 How we share data from our Registered Users

We may share your data with our affiliates and subsidiaries. The level of data protection provided in countries outside the European Economic Area law may be lower than the level provided within the European Community. Such affiliates and subsidiaries will use your data in accordance and for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. Where we use third party agents or distributors which are not our affiliates or subsidiaries, we have entered into a contractual agreement with them to ensure that your data is protected at the German level, and by one of the European Community. In the performance of the payment for services your personal data is proceeded to the external provider “Payone” who will process the payment. Payone will not use your data for any other than the payment process. Payone and Merz have entered into a data processing agreement according to the legal requirements.

2.5 Trans-border data transfer

Your data will be stored securely on servers located in Germany and not in the country from which you have accessed the Website. The level of data protection is [describe what the level is, e.g. in line with EU Data Directive.

2.6 Your right to revoke your consent

You can revoke your consent to the collection, processing and use of your data at any time. If you revoke your consent, we will delete your data (unless required or permitted to retain it by law). Please note that the deletion of data will lead to a termination of your registration and prevent you from using the parts of the Website and our services that are reserved for Registered Users only.

3 Third party processors

We may also use third party data processors acting on our behalf and in our interest. Such third party data processors will process your data strictly in compliance with this Privacy Policy.

4 Cookies and web beacons

4.1 Cookies

Cookies are small text files which a website places on your device. We may use cookies on some parts of the Website.
Within the password protected area of the Website reserved for Registered Users we use so called session cookies which are essential to enable you to use the features which are reserved for Registered Users. Such cookies enable us to keep track of the fact that you have signed in, so you do not have to continually enter your username and password when navigating through the areas of the Website which are reserved for Registered Users. We also use session cookies to provide you with the online services you have asked for, like to keep track of your shopping list.
In addition, we may use cookies to collect information about how users navigate through and use the Website and to collect information about which pages, sections and services of the Website are visited. This enables us to improve the Website and to enhance the online experience of our users. The information is collected on an anonymous basis and our cookies do not collect information that identifies the user personally. 4.2 Web beacons

Web beacons are tiny graphics files invisibly integrated into our Website or into communications sent to you. When you access parts of our Website or communications which contain such web beacons, the respective graphics files are downloaded from our server. We may use web beacons to collect information about the sections of our Website users visit, the services and courses users are interested in and the navigation users choose. Additionally, if you consented to receiving newsletters from us, we may place web beacons in newsletters sent to you. These web beacons will notify us when you open such newsletters and what electronic content you download. The information is collected on an anonymous basis and our web beacons do not collect information that identifies the user personally. However, if you are a Registered User you agree that the information collected by our web beacons may be associated with your Registration Data.

5 Google Analytics

The Website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how users use the Website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the Website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.
Please note that this Website uses Google Analytics with „anonymizeIP()“, so that Google shortens your IP address. Your IP address will be shortened within the area of Member States of the European Union or other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transmitted into the United States. 6 Social Plug-ins

The Website uses programs – so called plug-ins – which enable an interaction with the social network Facebook, operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. 7 Contacting you for market and research purposes

If you subscribe to receive marketing emails from us, we will use your email address to send you emails informing you about news of the Institute of Advanced Aesthetics and about its products and services as well as about products and services of Merz Group and to contact you for market research purposes. Note that trading restrictions may apply in some countries, and that some products may not be provided to, or shipped to certain countries. Also note that marketing restrictions may apply to our products in some countries, which may limit your use or onward distribution of such communications received from us.
You also have the option to consent that we can contact you by phone and by mail for marketing and research purposes.
By using the email address content-support@merz-institute.com, you can selectively revoke your consents to receive newsletter/marketing emails or to be contacted for research or marketing purposes by phone and mail. You may also opt-out from the receipt of marketing emails via a link in the respective email. Any such revocation will lead to the termination of Email news or termination of contacts for research and marketing purposes and will not lead to the deletion of your data nor the termination of registration.

8 Your right to access and change your data

You have the right to access, review and change your personal data that we retain. As a Registered User you can also access, review or change the information you provided in the settings of your account.
You can also request a deletion of your personal data by contacting us by email or Mail at the addresses set out above. In this case we will delete your personal data (unless required or permitted to retain it by law). Please note that if you are a Registered User the deletion of data will lead to a termination of your registration and prevent you from using our services and the parts of the Website that are reserved for Registered Users only.

9 Communication with us

When you send an email or other communication to us, we may retain those communications and your personal data in order to process your inquiries.

10 Third party websites

The Website may contain links to websites of Merz Group and/or of other third party entities. This Privacy Policy does not apply to linked websites. Please refer to the privacy policies available on the other websites.

Google Fonts
